Sean D. Schwerdtfeger, Esq. is a native of San Diego, who graduated high school from Saint Augustine High School in 1987. Upon graduation, Mr. Schwerdtfeger completed a four year curriculum at the University of California at Davis graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1991. Thereafter, Mr. Schwerdtfeger attended the University of San Diego, School of Law from 1992-1995, where he was one of four members of the Jessup International Law Competition Moot Court Team. As part of the team, he received the following awards: Jessup International Law Competition Regional Champion, 1994; Second Place, Regional Writing Competition, 1994; First Place, International Writing Competition1994; First Place among U.S. Law Schools in International Writing Competition.
Mr. Schwerdtfeger has been active in his community and served on a variety of boards, such as Uptown Planners 2002-2006, Uptown Partnership 2004-2011, and President of the Missions Hills Town Council.
Catherine L. Coughlin, Esq. is a native of San Diego. After graduating from Rancho Bernardo High School, Ms. Coughlin earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at San Diego , where she graduated cum laude as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Ms. Coughlin earned her Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. During law school, she was an associate editor of CommLaw Conspectus: Journal of Communications Law and Policy and interned for the United States Department of Justice, Office of Consumer Litigation. Prior to Joining Schwerdtfeger & Coughlin, LLP, Ms. Coughlin served as a federal law clerk for the Honorable William Q. Hayes of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Sara K. Richards, Esq. is a San Diego native. After graduating from high school, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from University of California at Los Angeles, where she graduated as a member of Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society. Ms. Richards earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law. During law school, she served as a law clerk at the Chula Vista Office of the City Attorney. Prior to joining Schwerdtfeger & Coughlin, LLP, Ms. Richards represented national depository institutions and lenders in real estate litigation and mortgage lending matters.
